Well I have been listening to podcast for a couple of years now, and have just started listening to audio books, so I’m curious what is everyone reading/listening to or watching?
I’ll leave you with some of favorite podcasts and some of the books I’ve really liked.
Podcasts:
Meat/cooking related
Meatgistics Podcast
Austin Jonathon obviously one of the greatest podcasts of all time, highly recommend.Meat Speak by Certified Angus Beef
Gravy by Southern Foodways Alliance
Butcher BBQ Podcast by Butcher BBQ
History Podcasts:
Band Of Brothers Podcast by HBO
I want preface this Podcast by saying if you have not watched the Band of Brothers miniseries, you need to do so before listening to this, which is a celebration of the 20th anniversary of the series. I thought it was an incredible podcast, and good luck keeping a dry eye listening to it.American History Tellers by Wondry
Legends of the Old West by Black Barrel Media
Danger Close with Jack Carr
Combat Story with Ryan Fuguit
Country/Red Dirt Music Podcasts:
The Troubadour Podcast by Jared Pete Gile
Jackin’ Around by Jack Ingram

Mike Force by Mike Glover covers military history, survival, current events, prepping, etc
Jocko Podcast by Jocko Willink, covers history to business to leadership.
Yellowstone Podcast a companion to the TV series.
Rump Chat by Justin Rumford and Hambone Hilton, if you like or follow rodeo you will want to listen to this.
Bear Grease Podcast by Clay Newcomb, covers everything from history, to hunting and Southern Culture.

MeatEater Podcast by Steven Rinella, covers history to hunting and everything in between.
Latest Audiobooks:
With the Old Breed by E. B. Sledge if you have seen the HBO miniseries the Pacific this one of the two books it was based off of. I just finished it and would highly recommend it to anyone interested in a first hand account of a Marine in the Pacific theater.
Helmet for My Pillow by Robert Leckie This is the other book that Pacific is based on, and Robert Leckie tells his story as a Marine in the Pacific.
Greenlights by Matthew McConaughey some good stories and life lessons in this book.
The next book im excited to listen to when it comes out in a couple weeks is “Fierce Valor: The True Story of Ronald Speirs and his Band of Brothers”

I had a Walton’s box on the porch when I got home from work today. My birthday isn’t for a few months, but it came early today. I cannot believe how nice the knife and polo shirt was from Walton’s. My wife actually accused me of ordering more stuff when I opened the box saying “they didn’t send you that for free, its too nice”.
My thanks to Austin Jonathon and the entire Meatgistics community for making this place what it is. To think we get rewarded being part of this community still amazes me, and apparently my wife as well.
Here is a pic of all the gifts from Walton’s with the new polo shirt and knife. Still hard to believe. Thanks again everyone!

@Power-User @Regular-Contributors @Yearling @Veteran @Old-Timer @Team-Blue @Team-Orange @Team-Grey
Over the past week, I have been slowly importing order history for everyone dating back through 2017. There were so many orders, that it literally took days to process everything and a lot longer than I expected. I was not planning on importing orders to our new waltons.com website for anything older than 2017, but I can be convinced otherwise if the consensus is that more order history is needed or wanted. If you think you want to see more history, just let me know.
99.9% of order history dating back to 2017 has been imported (only a few hundred orders are not cooperating and wouldn’t import properly). If you are one of the users that value the visibility of order history, please let me know if you do not see everything that you expect to see. I can go back through and individually check on people’s accounts and what orders are there if you think you are missing some data.
And just a random side note… Make sure you check out the new blog page at waltons.com/blog every now and then. I just put a post out there and included a coupon code in it…

So, at 15,000 users (thank you guys!) I think we are at the point where we need to make a determination on how best to make use of the search/posting features. I noticed a lot of questions that were asked by new people recently that have already been answered. I have seen message boards before that had strong rules on searching before posting but as PapaSop likes to say, we are a “community” not a message board!
In my opinion it makes it easier on the person looking for an answer to be able to just post the question they have in mind instead of searching through older posts BUT I don’t even answer most posts anymore, it is you guys who do that majority of that nowadays.
So, @Power-User @Regular-Contributors how do you want it? FYI anyone can chime in here, just tagged those groups as they are the ones carrying the majority of the load.

With the most recent news on Russia putting forces on high alert for Nuclear Weapons deployment I just bought a decent amount of antibiotics and potassium iodide pills. What else would make me better prepared for the “after times”?
To be clear this is a joke for the most part…aside from the fact that I 100% bought Potassium iodide and antibiotics.

Many years back, I was lucky enough to briefly meet some Ukrainian Police Officers visiting the US. At the time I was our Academy Commander and got to spend a day with them and the translators. So knowing that most Cops love firearms, I took them on our range for a half a day and we had a blast. (Pun intended). So as I watch on TV what is unfolding in their homeland, I am sad and POed for them. War has come to their front door. Besides the gift of free ammo that day, I gave them challenge coins and patches. I got some really cool gifts in return. One of my favorite is down to under a half a bottle. I believe the translation on the bottle was Presidential Vodka. Tonight I will have a shot and pray they are all OK and pray that they survive this invasion. If you believe in prayer, please say one for the people if Ukraine and Russia. There are families that are living on both sides of the border. My heart goes out to them.

Someone mentioned the other day that they were above the limit for one of these two groups but it wasn’t showing. At one point we had it fixed where it was auto granting these and something happened and that automation broke. I think we have fixed it. Can someone who knows they are close to becoming either a Power User or a Regular Contributor let me know if the group shows up when you go to your profile after you have hit either 100 or 300 posts?
