This might be basic information but I know a few people have struggled with this recently so I figured I would share.
The other day I was trying to tag Randy Rasmussen in the post for the PK-100 and it would not let me! It was annoying me so I reached out to nodeBB on why this was happening. He gave me a long explanation but he also provided 3 ways to “make” it work.
If you don’t put a search term (that is, just type @), it will pre-populate the dropdown with only the users in that topic. In this case, the correct Randy will show up. This does not currently seem to work in quick reply, only by replaying to the topic with the reply button at the top right.0ef89480-8693-40fe-a588-bffb5e32baf8-image.png The user mentions work via the user slug, which essentially is just a username, but lowercase, with most symbols changed to a simple dash. So in this case, even if the autocomplete dropdown doesn’t match, you can still tag the correct Randy by typing out Randy Rasmussen. There is a - in between randy and rasmussen. So, replace spaces with dashes - and it will work, though it requires you to type out the entire thing. If you hit the reply button inside the post content, it will automatically tag that post’s author. See that reply button to the right of the thumbs-up and quote? Well hitting that opens a reply window with the user already tagged (bottom image)
