Dave in AZ We just kind of tolerate the smell since we all eat and like it.
We do have a basement refrigerator that is used for meat, brewing, canning projects. Unwanted flavor aroma crossover has not been an issue so far.
Kim Chi is never is around long enough to worry about long term storage. lol

Tex_77 I rarely drink but when I do it’s a Guinness Stout, IPA or Rum and Coke.

Started another six gallon batch of Chilean Malbec again today along with a 6.5 gallon batch of a honey Hefeweizen. We hope they turn out good & maybe Margaret will be a little more inclined towards the hefeweizen.

with your batches to turn out very pleasing. -
Denny O No need for the luck of the Irish on these, we will probably be too late for that, but we do hope they turn out nice too. We will know in about two weeks or so to get a basic idea on the Hefeweizen & a basic idea on the wine in about two months. Of course then there is the longer wait & anticipation for the final products. Keep your fingers crossed.

Steven Winscot I used to like a Harp or two on Irish Day, but they are hard, if not impossible to come by anymore.

My wife found these at Costco.
The Harp is good, but I really liked the Red. Very tasty. -
processhead I never tried that Red, it looks interesting. I have tried another Red or two, but they just really did not do that much for me & then I realized the source…That one looks like it would have some potential. No Costco withing at least 200 miles of here though, I am pretty certain. I will BOLO for it elsewhere though. I did see that draught in the bottle like that a few days ago & considered it, but then declined. It kind of looked like a metal bottle or something up close & I recalled trying it years ago, when they first came out with it in a can & it did not do what I expected for me, so I passed again.

calldoctoday The red tasted really good. I need to see if I can find it in a six-pack here in Omaha.
The draught Guinness didn’t do it for me. Nothing like I remember a real Guinness Extra Stout tasting. -
processhead Oh, it looks like they changed the bottle on the Harp drastically too. They have done that to a lot of them & the stuff is not the same. Like Kronenbourg. A long time ago we could find that in a rare pub or two & it was never called 1664 or anything & was very different. That & the old Amstel was about all Margaret really liked, unfortunately so it is sad they are not all there & the same & acquirable. I would love to find some of those real old recipes & make them as well as they did. & yes, I would swear the extra stout tastes different than it used to, for certain. I have gotten more of a spicy like medicinal taste off of it. Everyone else thinks I am crazy, but they never tried the stuff past a few years ago. I have not tried a Foreign in a while, so do not know if they changed that too.
-
processhead Lovin’ that lineup. I looked for a pack like that locally, but couldn’t find. So, I went with individual 6 packs.

calldoctoday Do you use a prepackaged kit for your Malbec. The company I used to buy from went out of business and I haven’t found another good company for “kits”. Where do you get your supplies?
-
On this particular one, I used a pre-packaged kit. We prefer to just use the pure juices though & our own ingredients to make it. We cannot find them anywhere around here unless we get enough juice from our own vines & trees to make something (rare, but have done it). So, we end up getting pure juices from a company in Ontario, Canada of all places. The products are good quality & the prices very reasonable & the service top notch. The problems that we have always had, when we had them, though is the shipping across the boarder. We have seen some absolutely crazy stuff there. I think Connor has a connection, but if he is on vacation or something, it can get crazy. The company is KJ Urban Winery & our contact is Connor Creighton (connor@kjurbanwinery.com). They may have a Malbec now I think that just came out, after we got this kit, or maybe it is pre-order. What they sale changes with the seasons & years, it is not like the regular suppliers, but we like it. Except for the border crossing thing at times & that is not their fault.

I had a few Birthday credits at the liquor store I had to use or lose so I got this Bourbon out of Kirby,WY and a couple of 6 packs of Leinenkugel’s Toasted Bock. The bourbon is very good with a little sweet, butterscotch flavor to it. The Toasted Bock was very good. I grew up in Wisconsin and I learned to like my Bock beer from back there. (Plus it was my Maternal Grandmother’s maiden name!) Not many Bock’s to be found out here in Colorado, so I couldn’t pass it up
