OleSmokey that is an excellent beer. Look for Marzen’s, they are the same thing just something about where it was made. That is why American Beers are Octoberfest and not Oktoberfest because they were not made in Munich

Departing Contestant FYI, Märzen or Märzenbier (which is German for March beer) is a pale lager seasonal that originated in Bavaria. The beer was traditionally brewed in March (hence its name) and stored in caves before summer’s weather made brewing lagers nearly impossible. The original Märzen was brewed dark, strong, and full-bodied, using roasted Vienna and/or caramelized Munich malt to help cover up the inevitable flavor changes that would occur throughout the summer. It was served at the first Oktoberfest.

OleSmokey the Marzens I get are dark sweet and very tasty. Thanks for the info

We’re spending 3 weeks “Up North” in Eagle River/St. Germain WI. I just couldn’t resist picking up these two Leinenkugles: Oktoberfest and Lienie’s Red Amber. Two very good seasonal beers. If you can find them in your area, I recommend trying them. At least the Oktoberfest, it has a very good Marzen/Lager taste and color with a touch of hops.

Bob Stehlik nice, I wish they still brewed Big Butt. It was one of my favorites from Leinenkugel’s.

I needed a good night cap and went with a smooth Tennessee whiskey.

Enjoyed a walnut liquor from Croatia last night at a Slovenians in Cleveland event thrown by the Consulate of Slovenia. It actually tasted like it was made with maple syrup. But, was new and interesting.

zbigjeff We had a tasting of several locally-made liquors earlier this Summer while in Croatia. One of them was walnut flavored. They were all very different but very good.
