Ghost Pepper vs Hot Pepper
-
What is the heat level difference between the Ghost Pepper Hi Temp Cheese and the Hot Pepper Hi Temp Cheese?
I just made a batch of elk summer sausage using H Seasoning and the Ghost Pepper and it was very good, but I could see how some may not want that much spice. For my buddy and I, I would say it is right on the nose for the spice level we were looking for.
Just wanting to see if Hot Pepper is still too hot for some people you would consider intolerant to spiciness.

I haven’t used the hot pepper cheese but I used the ghost pepper in a beef/pork summer sausage with H Summer Sausage seasoning. The first bite of the ghost pepper will grab you but after that it seems like it tames down to the flavor. I’m not intolerant, though. My wife is and I didn’t even consider giving her a slice. Happy Wife, Happy Life. Right? Come to think of it, I think I’ll have some of the ghost pepper and a beer right now…

badfire2625 I would agree with you. That first bite really gets after you but it really adds a lot to the sausage once you kind of ease in. I also do not find it to be a unbearable, make you sweat kind of hot.

txoutdoorsman I was as excited as a teenage boy to post on something that I actually knew something about, Much like that teenage boy, I finished too soon thinking I had done something good… But anyway, I clearly didn’t read your post all the way through before I replied, but I gotta guess that the hot pepper is a step down from the ghost pepper. I’m looking forward to trying that as well.

The hot pepper (aka) pepper jack is not even close to the ghost pepper. That said, I prefer the hot pepper. Don’t like to sweat when I eat. I’m more about the flavor.See you found the orange… Excellent!

txoutdoorsman Hot Pepper is basically a pepperjack cheese. Not really hot at all. If someone was totally heat intolerant, they might think there is a spice to it, but most people don’t think it is spicy.

txoutdoorsman It is the difference between my wife punching me in the arms and taking an uppercut from a trained boxer! Now, that might be over selling how hot the ghost pepper cheese is but when compared to the pepper jack it has some real heat!
