Marinade injector

anyone ever use one it these things?
I was gonna marinade a pork butt for an all day smoke tomorrow. I fought with this thing for well over two hours. Just couldn’t get it to stroke. Could only stroke about 1/8 of an inch. Took it apart over and over. Finally just did thisI fought this thing to the bitter end and lost!
I hate it when things don’t work out of the box. -

I’ve had the same one for two years… No issues. Very strange. -

lkrfletcher I have one, and it works great. Couple questions, did you have it dialed back to take a full stroke? Was the o-ring lubricated? Did you have all the springs and plungers installed in the correct direction? I’ve fought mine before, but i usually had something installed backwards when i had that problem.

lkrfletcher I have used the same one for over a year. I agree with PapaSop & Tex_77 a full stroke had a tendency to bind and the O-ring needs some lubrication.

lkrfletcher sorry that failed man, I’ll send another one and verify it works first!

Yeah, I tried every position on that wheel. Lots of little parts and o-rings, which i cleaned and lubricated before reassembling exactly how it came out of the box.
Weirdest thing, I tried everything I could to get it to make a full stroke. It like it was just locked up. I ended up going to Walmart and getting a basic plastic injector last night. The pork butt is now in the PK100 for an all day smoke. - Used apple juice, pineapple juice, worchestershire, and soy sauce for marinade - All liquid so I know it didn’t get plugged up with solids. -

lkrfletcher sometimes the little plungers get stuck and then I agree you can’t get a full stroke. They are a pain to dig out when they get stuck as well. The injectors aren’t fool proof, but they beat the pants off of a normal injector when they are working.

I have not had very good luck with mine either. I assume it is user error on my part so I have not given up yet.

Anytime i have an issue with mine its usually because one of the little rubber plungers got stuck, fix that and I’m always back in business. Be careful when disassembling as there are many small springs, seals ans plungers you can lose. Below our the assembly and maintenance instructions. Be careful you get the springs nack in the right place, they aren’t interchangeable.

I use the D*ck Hand Marinade or Brine Injector. It’s a little more costly, but far less moving parts and cleans up fast. Waltons has them too. https://www.waltonsinc.com/hand-marinade-or-brine-injector
