Dave in AZ I guess in my experience when I pull sticks/links off smoker they are often varying temps. So when I drop them into bath with water at desired IT I can guarantee all of them will end up where I want them. If I were to overshoot water temp and monitor I’d need to check quite a few of them and pull in multiple stages else risk some being over/under cooked.
Cabelas grinder meat tray

Picked up a old cabelas #12 grinder yesterday that is missing the meat tray. Could’nt pass it up for $40. I know, I know, I have a sickness but im getting help for it…
I think these were made by weston as they look just like the butcher series I have reached out to Weston with no reply and with the covid situation, they do not have a phone number listed, just an email.
I see the backyard pro is very similar and are even called the Backyard pro butcher series and offer a replacement pan but the mfg (Webstaurant Store)cannot or will not determine the throat size of the grinder head.
Any ideas? Does anyone have a backyard pro #12 butcher series? TIA, Bubba -
have you tried cabelas? look up model number via google and see if you can find parts?
-
smokinbubba Thought they look similar it is very possible the neck area are different diameters. I would recommend checking with Cabellas though Ive heard they don’t stock parts for older model grinders.

Measure the inside diameter of your grinder neck and note the size. All you need is a pan from any manufacturer that is the size of your grinder neck.
You may have better luck locating a replacement if you check with several sources instead of trying to find an exact.
When checking alternative sources, you will need to speak to someone who can verify the dimensions of their replacement pan neck -
processhead the issue seems to be no one knows the measurements of their products. Customer service anywhere but Waltons sucks. Lord help me when the next customer service person says “what’s that” when I ask if they have a spec sheet on a pan they offer!! It’s a 2.5” I’d on the grinder neck. Everyone says “it’s made to fit our grinder only” really, I mean really. I haven’t called cabelas yet. They are next. Weston has not responded except they sent an automated email saying they received my message. I’m in no rush since it will b a backup to my #22 carnivore. And will travel to deer camp in nov.

have you inquired at a fab shop to have one made ?

That’s aggravating to be sure.
If you strike out finding a ready-made replacement, I would be inclined to improvise a solution using available materials like a heavy duty cake pan, a bulkhead fitting, and a pipe nipple. -
These guys have quite a few grinder parts and some of their pans have neck dimensions

Paul. Thats funny you mention that company. They are the folks that dont know anything about their products. They were the first company i contacted. Completely clueless. They offer a pan for a #12 backtard pro which looks exactly like a weston butcher series. They couldnt tell me any measurements. Finally told me it only fits theirs. Going to be near Cabelas tomorrow. Going in with my tape measure and check the carnivore #12. If it measures correct, im sure i can get parts for a model they still offer. I could fab one up in my shop but would rather have one made for the grinder. if nothing else for resale value.

smokinbubba good luck… at our Basspro I just left they are all in boxes… if you could find the manual online and get a part number GTS… ( google that chit) if nothing else one from them you might be able to come up with a adaptor or the like…

Just used the old cabelas (weston) #12 today. Man is it a machine. I don’t know if the meat was prime temp or what, but it ground better then the new #22 carnivore! I think i will keep it. Second grind was as fast as i could feed it.
Curious, is the knife and plate sharp in the #22?
Cutting edge condition probably has at least as much effect on grinder performance as the size. -
processhead thats the funny part. The carnivore is brand new. The Weston is old and the plates are well used. Not wore out but show signs of wear.

Sounds like its a keeper.
