$2.67 choice packers here last week. Wally World had them for $3 something today.
-
Tex_77 Who would have every thought that $3.00 for brisket was a good deal.

twilliams We could all be rich!

@ndmike Oh Boy. Sounds like something we ordered about two months ago & they are finally sending it after over 45 days past due. They said they could not get folks to come to work (very sad), so I just wondered, do we need to worry about the quality now too if it was that difficult to get folks to come to work?
-
@ndmike lmao, what’s it gonna take before they hire 5’s. That would be sketchy
-
calldoctoday yep, hiring the bottom of the barrel almost everywhere
-
Tex_77 Got Angus WD Prime this morning early for $2.99. I would normally consider that ridiculous & Margaret gave me a hard time about paying that much, but, it seems to be a good price these days. You don’t want to know what I went through last year with brisket. I am seriously starting to think about selling out & getting another place where I can raise my own cattle, as if I can really afford that either.

calldoctoday Cattle on the hoof are dirt cheap it’s the slaughtering or lack thereof that’s running the prices up.

calldoctoday yeah its pretty sad. Our State ended the Federal unemployment bs. Only way you can get it is you can prove you are actually looking for a job. No one wants to work anymore after all the free Covid $$$.

twilliams I hate to get philosophical but are they really the bottom of the barrel if they are the ones willing to work? Times are crazy
-
calldoctoday I just sold 2 beef private treaty last week for $1800ea. From turning the bull out with the cows to sale took about 27 months that I fed and cared for them. The “packer” would have had them for two weeks and the report I heard last week was that they were netting $900/carcass. That’s where you want to put your money!
-
Nicolai Don’t get me started. How heavy were those steers?
-
GWG8541 hate to get all negative here but, willing to work or forced to do it? The working ethics and drive has disappeared. Even worse so with this so called pandemic. This has been going on for the last 10 years that I can remember off hand.
