Hi everyone, with hunting season vastly approaching I wanted to create a board to share about your hunting and fishing outings before your processing and cooking starts!

I’ve got several things planned for this year. Whitetail hunting at my house (1st year of owning property). Dusky grouse and rainbow/brook trout in south central Colorado. Will share the adventures soon!

I am headed to Texas for dove hunting Labor day weekend, and an annual trip in November to Minnesota for whitetail with brothers on land we purchased about 6 years ago. I hope to squeeze a trip or two to the San Juan river in northwest New Mexico for some fly fishing for trout. Man I love the fall. Also have two pots of spaghetti sauce on the stove right now. I will take some to MN with me, my nephews wife requested some, couldn’t turn down this wonderful lady.

I am going to the Frio River for opening day of Dove season here in Texas for two days of hunting. Then I have a couple of whitetail trips planned to Bracketteville in the fall/winter.

Did some prep work on 27 tree stands on our place yesterday, cutting shooting lanes checking hardware, straps and seat cushions. 7 of us got it all done in what had to be record time for us. Had a beautiful cool dry day to work outside instead of the normal August tropical weather here.
Our archery deer season opens Sept. 1.

bocephus awesome! The San Juan’s are where we are going in southern CO. Starting off around Del Norte and working our way to Pagosa Springs via forest service roads. Beautiful country. I’m hoping to do some more exploring in Norther NM soon as well.

@matt-westerhaus Love the San Juan river, many memorable days even when the fish weren’t totally cooperating.

Always bass fishing, have a few pheasant hunting trips and going to try getting back into Deer hunting this year depending on what happens with some stuff at work. I don’t have a ton of time to dedicate to it but Ive got a LOT of pork fat that needs to go with some venison and I’ve been wanting to go the last few years. A few people have offered to take me but its really the time more than anything else

Hunting may be delayed here if we don’t get rain. We have2 major fires east of the mountains and the west side is extremely dry. The State of Washington has already closed all DNR lands and we have a statewide burn ban in place.

Whitetail starts here in Ohio September 25th, so there is a little time to get some crappie and bass fishing in beforehand. I will be taking the 5th wheel and setting up for 2 weeks (3 weekends) in hopes of getting into some crappie at Paint Creek lake. Ill also be scouting deer, since I’ll be 10 miles from the hunting property. The stands and blinds are ready to go. Good luck to everyone this year.

bocephus where about in MN do you hunt. I live up by superior wi. I am only about 5 miles from the boarder. My hunting shack is about 1 1/2 miles from the boarder. Up by us we have a huge wolf problem.

YooperDog pretty sad isn’t it. I saw more wolves last year then deer during our rifle and muzzle loader hunt. Our wolf season was over in less then 2 days and that was shooting over 100 more wolves then the quota. I think the number of wolves is grossly underestimated. I have 80 acres of hunting property with several food plots. A lot of time and money invested to see no deer

All the below is me teaching 3 of my kids how to hunt. 15 yo girl, 13 yo boy, and 11 yo boy (9 yo girl is not ready yet).

In North Carolina - dove hunting the opener on Labor Day weekend. Then in South Carolina (we live a few miles from the border of NC/SC), we were gifted the chance to hunt whitetail on an 80acre parcel before it gets developed next year. Will be hunting SC youth day in less than 3 weeks. Then as much as we can all season. Hoping to fill tags and fill the freezer
