I have been kind of absent lately. A lot busier than I want to be! My nephew got his his first turkey on the very last day using a new .410. I was a little skeptical at first but bird went down hard!

RON PARRISH Congrats to your nephew. It only take one BB in the head/neck to shut down a tom.
Was that bird shot in Ohio? It kind of looks like an Osceola and they don’t typically live in the that area?

very interesting and fascinating stories.

Congratulations! There is nothing better that killin stuff as a family! Oh sorry “responsibly harvesting” majestic wild game. Gotta be politically correct. No I don’t. Teach how to kill ethically, quickly, and cleanly Yep. teaching family to kill is the right thing to do. teaching them to point and shoot is horrible thing. I think the use of the .410 is an excellent choice for his first kill for many reasons! Obviously, the kid killed well. Just great all around. AND NOW YOU ALL GET TO EAT!

processhead Yes. It is an eastern. An old bird. 1-3/8 very sharp spurs and 12 inch beard. It was raining that morning and the bird is very wet.

Whitetailrancher He was pretty excited! these new .410’s and tungston ammo are a big rage right now. I guess at $11 a round they better be good!

You are sure Right about that. I raised both of my kids with 2 .410s a single shot bolt action to harvest a large number of Big Game species as well as a cheap little Mossberg pump action for most Birds we have here in the USA. fantastic little guns actually and VERY under-utilized and under respected. AGAIN, Great Job. beautiful bird and a wonderful smile on your nephew. As well as the guy taking the picture I’m certain of it. really that is what most of us are actually in pursuit of. that big smile at the end of the hunt when it comes down to it! AWESOME!!!

RON PARRISH Congratulations Ron on the hunt! I have never chased turkeys. I’ve been given a breast once to cook/smoke once and I think I failed.
