Nice birds!
What are you hunting/fishing?

Ken1261 When I was young, we only had a one day season and around 10 hunters in our party. We were not too picky with what we shot. Party hunting is legal in the state so you could shoot more than one. We did a lot of deer drives to push them. I remember other people getting out of their vehicles when we started a drive, which didn’t bother me if they stayed out of our way.

bocephus I grew up running dogs in FL. So when someone managed to killed a deer and it was divided between everyone involved, you might end up with 5 pounds of meat. I didn’t know how to act when I started still hunting and had a whole deer to myself. How 15 years later and going to S. Carolina, I usually have a good amount of venison each year.

Today is the day I am heading to the piney woods of east Texas, cold front blew through so hopefully that will trigger some movement, it also rained a lot yesterday.

ND Mike said in What are you hunting/fishing?:
Sleep will come easy tonight
Hope you got that good sleep!

Jonathon oh I did, but the next two days I felt like a Mack truck ran me over.

Good luck! -
The big deer that is in the area didn’t show his face, but this fella made the mistake of coming out. I will be turning this guy into pan sausage and chorizo. Thankfully it was cold enough to use nature’s walk in cooler so I didn’t have to quarter him up right away.

HerbcoFood That is a start, now you know you have meat in the freezer, always a good thing.
-
HerbcoFood fresh meat is on the menu!
-
HerbcoFood Looks like you got you one of those horse spikes. Great job bringing the bacon home! Congratulations!

I just ordered our favorite breakfast pan sausage blend, and going to try that brand’s chorizo blend. Hopefully, I will be able to get it done this weekend.

Just pulled in the driveway from 3 days of of deer hunting. This is gun week in Ohio. So opening day I tried to listen in on the Live cast, but it kept buffering and I couldn’t really take advantage of any deals. I was able to type in a shout out from the tree. This was the view while listening to Jonathon Austin and JohnG5 with a earbud in.
The big boys did not cooperate and I harvested a doe this morning.
One of my sons made it for 2 days, but never had a shot on one. A friend who is 81 next week, took a doe this morning about 1 minute before I shot this one. It’s always a blessing to put meat in the freezer and always a good day when hunting with friends and family. -
GWG8541 Looks like some very fine meat about to go in the freezer.

Meat is meat! Glad you were able to bring some home. Friends and family speak volumes.Surprised to see you in camo. Wi. requires blaze orange over 50%. Anyways… Nice!
Did see your shout from the tree. -

PapaSop I threw on a flimsy nylon vest and a full face nit cap. We have a body and head requirement, but none on the legs. I try to bow hunt more than gun and use the same cold weather gear, just add orange.

PapaSop not to mention the fact that I couldn’t let you see me wearing orange.

GWG8541 that’s what hunting is all about. Friends and Family and the peace of mind that the outdoors gives a person. It is a nice reset.
