Big bang at work.

I know this is not meat related but wanted to share a cool photo with everyone interested. We had a small storm blow through the other night and the thunder from this bolt of lightning shook our cement plant buildings worse than anything I’ve felt in my 15 years here. If you look at the bottom left corner you’ll see our plant. It’s 6 stories high.

bocephus that’s for sure. The gentleman who took this photo always takes pictures at all the little league games here. He took this after all the kids were cleared from the field. All I can say is he was Johnny on the spot for this one.

cdavis that is absolutely fabulous. I have never seen a bolt that thick. Hope all are ok. Fascinating, just simply fascinating. They make electronic triggers for cameras that capture lightning bolts. Wonder if he has this or just timed it perfectly

twilliams He may have that. I just know photography is his hobby since he retired. He gets some of the most amazing baseball and softball pictures I’ve ever seen. I didn’t hear of any damage or injuries from this but it sure looks like it should have.

cdavis that has to be one of the most spectacular looking lightening photos I’ve ever seen. Us humans like to think we are in control. We definitely can’t control mother nature. Thanks for posting.

RON PARRISH I was fishing in Canada on my yearly trip, we we just left camp to go fishing that evening and seen the storm in the foreground, I said eh it will stay over there. Started fishing and an hour later we were like two lightning rods in the water right in the middle of the storm holding on to our graphite poles. I was a bit nervous but boy the fishing bite was rockin. It was kinda funny, it would down pour the fish were nonstop, rain would let up the bite slowed down. Started down pouring again and the bite increased. Was quite fun, and glad it wasn’t time to meet the maker.

House got hit about 2:00 AM in 2008. By luck I saw a hint of smoke through a plumbing plumbing pipe hole.
Immediately Called the fire dept. and cleared the house still had $150,000 worth of damage
Fire had started in the basement through the electrical wiring -

Lake place has been struck twice, once we weren’t there and luckily the neighbors saw it and called fire department, other time we were there and just had to fix a little wiring and outlets.
