I’ll go first… walkedinto this little piece of genius from @JohnG5
-
So those are Udon or Soba noodles that we were concerned with how they would vacuum seal and instead of messing around, just toss the entire bowl in the bag!
-
But then you give up a bowl…however that is genius if you have copious amounts of bowls when stew/soup SZN is upon us!
-
I have seen this done to marinade stuff to. Pulls all the liquid from the bowl into what is inside. I think it was fish fillets at the time. This way they marinade well without being crushed by the vacuum sealer. It is a way to vacuum liquids in a normal sealer (non chamber vac).

I can see that working well for a regular vacuum sealer since you can’t hardly seal anything with liquids without it pulling it into the machine. I would sacrifice a disposable bowl rather than one of my daily bowl for storage instead.
-
If you use a disposable bowl then you would be risking getting all those disposable chemicals in your food. Wouldn’t a stainless or glass bowl be preferred?
We try to limit how much contact our food has with plastics in extreme cold/heat situations, so sous vide would likely not be something my wife would be on board for. I am having a hard enough time convincing her that we need to vac seal meat for the freezer when we process.

Ridley Acres If you can show your wife that the plastic products, vac bags & such, are BPA free and food grade rated, she may feel better about vac sealing. I had to do that with my sister who had MS and was very conscious about how her food was packaged/sealed.

Do you find that your smokers temp doesn’t seem to be as accurate as it used to be? Locate your temp probe and use a warm washcloth to clean it off and bring your smoker temps back to normal.

bocephus I have to agree on the Smokehouse Cleaner. I clean all of my temp sensor s with it as well as my Traeger door edges when I have to apply new nomex gasket seals.

For our indoor wood burner we had a cleaner specific to wood stoves, but found cleaning vinegar does the trick just as well.
-
So I always freeze soups/stew/chili in regular Tupperware then pop the frozen block out to vac seal.

Jamieson22 I do the same with all liquid product including gravy. I found containers that are about 7-8 inches long and about 1.5 inches high. Freeze it, pop it out, then vacuum it. Sets it up for easier uniform storage.

are these plastic or silicone?

Ridley Acres They are just plastic. Reason: I bought them (2 four packs) originally at Walmart for just leftovers because of the lower profile. Then, said: Well, why NOT use them for vac packing. Once I run out of them because the plastic cracks, I will look for silicone.

zbigjeff That’s a good idea, I think I will do the same with gravy at Thanksgiving if there is leftover as I love turkey gravy.

Those with the kids and or playsets will appreciate this life hack. Picked these up at I think it was AutoZone for cheap but they make great drink/beer holders. And they can be moved around easily.
