What is the best wireless meat thermometer to purchase ?
-
Hey guys… I’m getting tired of buying wireless meat thermometers on Amazon only to find they have big temp fluctuations. Or the probes c**p out after a few uses. What’s the best one to buy?
-
I believe the meater is supposed to be a really good one. I know a few buddies who use them.
-
HerbcoFood I was looking at that one and I was thinking that had the best reviews. Kind of expensive, but you only get what you pay for right?
-
BubbaSmoke1963 With electronics that are made to take the heat, yes.
-
Can’t go wrong with anything from Thermoworks.

I got the meatstick with the wifi bridge. It’s expensive like the meater but can monitor more probes, is able to go into the deep fryer and so far I have had a couple problems but customer service responds by email quickly. Usually one day.

Agree on the Thermoworks. Can’t live without my Thermapens from them have teh Smoke remote therm. Accurate as can be and work perfectly!
-
Is there such a wireless device that would transmit to some receiver/plug that could then be plugged into a Fireboard?
-
I run Thermoworks. Their probes last a long time. If you watch or sign up for their newsletter you can get some really good sale deals.

BubbaSmoke1963 I have a ink bird ibt-4xp has 4 probes 3 for meat one for ambient temp with rechargeable battery runs off an app….I like it wasn’t too bad on price think it was $60 or so

If you want really wireless than the meater is what I would go with. However, the Grilleye Max seems to be really really good. However, I am gun shy with this as I loved the old grilleye too until they messed it up with a firmware update.

I know it’s not a Walton’s product but have been using the Thermoworks products for years. Long before finding this place. Sorry Austin and Jon. Had a probe fail once. Quick call to them and a replacement was on the way. BTW, this was three years after I bought it.

BubbaSmoke1963 Thermpro products are extremely reliable and can only be purchased through them. There is a note on their website that there are “fakes” being sold on Amazon. A couple of chefs i know only use Thermpro for instant, wired or wireless devices. I have an instant read and wired product. No issues after using for the last 1.5 years. Others say the wireless have around 300 feet of range and they do have ones with, I think, up to 4 probes. Good luck with your hunt.

Thanks I think I will look at the original Thermo probes and the Meater also…

I was driving myself NUTS trying to find a cheaper alternative, so I figured spend the money on Thermoworks SmokeX4 or spend the money on counseling.
The reasons I went with this option is
- Reputation
- Quality Product
- High and Low Alarms (when I hack my pellet grill to smoke since I don’t have a dedicated smoker and can’t do the scheduled temperature cycling
- The only one I found that CALIBRATES. I am neurotic about the minutia and coming from a biochem background I need instruments I can depend on to the 1F
