How was your Sunday!!
-
I know I have discussed it a few times on the board but my Sunday’s start around 6am with rehearsal and last till about 1pm. My job, as a sound engineer, is to make sure that the audio works flawlessly and that I mix and mitigate anything that would make the church experience worse.
This is my view every Sunday. It pays to be a geek sometimes!

I also man the sound booth at my church, but our board is far less complicated yet seems more cluttered.

Ridley Acres HEYYY!! That is awesome man. Is that an old Beringer?? The Midas board is relatively simple, especially if you understand the function of the analog boards. Setting Fx and re-routing inputs and directing outputs is SOOOOOOooooooo much easier since we do it electronically. Same as setting pre/post EQ processing. Beyond that it is a lot of XLR and DMX and Cat6 coming and going to/from the racks (and I do have a few of them). Front of house stuff is not bad but dealing with London Architecture and integrating with Living as One for our online broadcast can be a nightmare.

Yeah I don’t recall the model, but it is a Beringer. There are a couple mutes that don’t stay depressed, but in general its still going strong. We send audio to pc and record audio using Adobe Audition. The audio is also pulled into OBS along with video coming from an older canon rebel for our livestream. We really only stream to youtube and but have https://biblebaptistbd.online.church/ setup through churchonlineplatform which allows us to have a consistent link for our members to tune into without needing to go to youtube. We do desire to upgrade our camera to a ptzoptics as that would give us better aspect ratio, but we are a small church so its on the wish list for now.

Dr_Pain Nice board. Been a few years since I ran one. Also did lights, but I always liked it a bit more subdued than the pastor did.
What’s the name of your church? Would like to visit the website.

Every weekend I try to “get fired” I run my subs at a 100hz cross over and push the dB +5 off the original calibration, and I get my mix to peak 100-103dB which is what we run for our youth conference. The production director never actually threatened me but does come on occasion to pull some of the faders down.
I started in lights and I am definitely not that artistic. I was very mechanical in my light schemes
Out church is Our Saviors of Lafayette. We have 5 campuses but I am at the bigger one in South Lafayette (not Mid-Town which is also in Lafayette).
Hey Chef you should come for a visit. I’ll let you get the rust off those fingers LOL! (I might get fired for that though)

Dr_Pain I’m seriously considering a visit. When would be the best time to pick up a few hamper of crabs, LOTS of shrimp and, of course, Crawfish. Does anytime for the three intersect? guess the spring if anytime.

Ridley Acres Dr_Pain your churches are a lot fancier than mine. We have an 80 year old lady that plays the piano and the pastor sometimes plays the guitar.

Chef All depending on your wallet you can find seafood during the same season. I normally don’t eat crawfish during the lent season because it is way more expensive then I want to pay. Crabs are just too slow to peel for me. Shrimp, I get them when a friend makes a run and decide to include me
