Here you have to call the State Police and the will come and give you a piece of paper saying it is legally yours.

as long as people are made aware of the options for getting the meat in the proper way and knowing there is a way to receive it legally we all should be aware of the options

We can get a salvage tag here for road kill. I never have done it, but I think its no cost. Its better than letting the scavengers get it.

NY you can get a tag from law enforcement to keep it if you hit it with your vehicle
