craigrice all the grandkids have quilts, and the great grand has one now too, she was born last month, our first great. She makes quilts for everyone that is having babies she knows and give them a stack of burp/urp rags she makes. Whenever she retires she can start in on the big quilts with her big machine. She tells me my hobbies are expensive until I remind her how much we have invested in her machines.

My mom (retired) casually mentioned her new $20k sewing machine last time I saw her. I can’t even…

craigrice No it’s not, I have gone with her to the fabric store. She has quite a supply of her own, it still amazes me that they need more or don’t have the right color.

Jamieson22 I can imagine that, the sewing machine dealers are like car dealers, new model with a couple of changes, you really need it, give us a couple thousand more than the last one and it’s yours. With 2 embroidery machines and her long arm quilting machine, plus the two other machines I could have bought a brand new 5th wheel.

johnsbrewhouse I guess my mom got a deal from a lady in her quilting group. a 8,000 machine for 4,000. The other lady was going to quit doing quilts, just getting to hard at her age she said. Worked out good for mom I guess. Funny part is Dad pointed out that they paid less then that for their first house.

kyle That is a good deal, my wife sold her last machine to my sister for $4,500 and that was a deal. Most of the time when she wants a new one we trade the old one in. They are just like used cars, low ball you on what the old one is worth.
