jason.neucere So that was the premise we ran on initially when we found out that our mixer fit our old Weston grinder, however, there are some pretty serious caveats to that. The size of the housing around the gear can vary to a good amount, for example, ours is large than Weston uses so it will work from grinder to mixer in this case but not from the mixer to the grinder. Another big one is how to lock the heads in. Ours and I think Cabellas are both top notches whereas a few of the others are either below the notch or a different sized notch, so it will come very close to hooking up but not fully connecting the auger drive shaft to the chuck in the grinder that turns the auger.
Suction Cups on Mixer

ND Mike’s post about suction cups on stuffers reminded me that they worked so well that I thought why not on my mixer. Sure enough they worked great and I can now mix by myself without fastening or clamping to the counter

glen Great to know, I will have to order a set for my mixer. Thanks
-
This is something I have thought about trying. Does anyone know if they work with the Waltons 50# mixer?

With the mixer hooked to a grinder I haven’t noticed the mixer moving, mixing by hand the feet may work well on a 50# mixer if they fit.

Deepwoodsbutcher A few things, you can’t use them on the 50 lb and hook it up to a grinder, it will be too low to hookup. It will also force you to have the handle hanging over an edge on the 50 lb because the feet will be too low and the handle will hit whatever surface you are doing it from.
glen Great thought and glad it works well on the 20 lb model! Theoretically, you could do it on the 50 lb as well with just some moving to the edge but I think the 20 lb model is going to be the main one that this helps. Good ingenuity!

Jonathon Thank you, btw my mixer is an older 20 lb. model with a long handle so I do have to move it to the edge

Jonathon Thanks for the clarification. Unfortunately, I can’t hook it up to my commercial grinder anyway. But I’ll give it a go and see if it will work with hand cranking.

I have been using my mixer and stuffer a lot lately. I have no need to use suction cups on the 50# mixer. It stays in place with no issues on my stainless steel table. I did put the suction cups on my 33# stuffer and they are amazing, aside from being difficult to move when I’m done lol.

Just peel up an edge of each cup till the suction breaks. -
processhead I use a plastic bench scraper to break the seal.

processhead you really can’t peel these, they are very chunky and thick. There is even a tab to grab with your fingers intended to help peel up an edge, but the grip is too much for finger pinch strength on tab to overcome.
You pretty much have to slip a knife or such under the edge to break the suction. I’ve been keeping a butter knife there to do it. Then also a towel to slip under the feet so they don’t re-grab while working next foot.

Dave in AZ I agree. That tab doesn’t do anything for me. A plastic bench scraper is useful for this and only a few dollars. It won’t damage the rubber suction cups. Then I store it on a towel like you mentioned
