Did my green beans and got 8 pints off first picking. Finally got a pressure cann
er that works on wife’s induction. Only bought a 10qt. it hold 4 pints at time. Has a nice heavy stainless steel bottom. A must for induction. Wife wanted the smaller size for other things to just cook . It’s lite enough for her to handle. I don’t pressure to many things anyway.

tarp looking good! My sons love those canned style green beans better than anything, ask for them on birthday meals, great vegetables to can!
-
tarp pretty hard to beat canned beans out of the garden. I usually do 50-60 pints in the fall and we eat them all winter long
-
You must be quite a ways south of me. We have yet to get into the garden. I’ll be canning more this fall than in the past. Canned goods can survive power outages. Get your supply of lids early.
However, I was very happy with the results of last year’s green beans that were frozen and vacuum sealed. Frozen is much less work.

Just planted the beans today before the rain hits again tomorrow, also got most of the squash seeds in as well. Spinach and beets are in, so now all I have left are pumpkins and they go in the compost bin, but I have to get the chickweed out first with the eco-friendly weed killer since the bee’s are busy.

Yeah I’m just north Houston 75 miles, that place is a zoo. We been having record heat last 10 days about mid 90’s every day should be high 80’s. So lettuce has come and gone, spinach about to be gone. Put up 5 qts cucumbers yesterday. Need a break to go boating and fishing, lol

I have a hard time wrapping my head around green bean canning in May. Mine are just coming up.
More power to you. -
processhead It is crazy with so much variations, all in the same country. Ours will be worn out before too long. We have dehydrated two huge batches for Leather britches & eaten three pretty decent batches fresh. There should be a bumper soon I hope, not that the Sun has finally come out.
-
processhead mine are not even planted yet. We had another frost advisory last night
-
tarp Canning green beans in May?! Oh my!! We are grateful to be canning g.b on the 4th of July!

kyle wow, we just got most everything in two weeks ago with the weather warming up. We had a couple of cold mornings in the mid 30’s when the nights cleared, but thing are popping up. My beans are just pushing out of the ground, but the cilantro came up in February from volunteer seed and lasted through hard frosts and now is like a weed. I hope you guys find some warmth up in the northern reaches of WI, you can have some of the rain we are getting hit with now. We are still getting snow in the high mountains.
-
johnsbrewhouse we have been getting plenty of rain now also. Garden will go in june 1st. Have fun playing in the dirt

kyle Taking a break for the long weekend, up at our place in the foothills. Only trouble, it’s raining but we are dry in the fifth wheel and we have our covered 30x30 area with the fire pit right next to it. It is cold though with the rain, sweatshirt weather and the mosquitos are out.
-
johnsbrewhouse Sarah and I are trying out our new fifth wheel this weekend also. Sitting by the fire with an ol fashion as we speak. Have a fun safe weekend
