Meat lugs
-
For anyone wondering, purple is often used to signify items in the food industry that are not to be used for processing/ handling food that contains allergens. It helps with cross contamination. In my case, I will use it to keep products organized. I use Blue for Beef, Purple for Pork and Green for Game. Just helps me know at a glance what I’ve got going on.

kyle Well, I happen to be a Vikings fan, so I’ve always liked purple.

Deepwoodsbutcher Taking Kirk Cousins from us upset me at the time but I think it ended up being good for Washington!

I can tell you have worked in production.
I wouldn’t need more than about 2 lugs before I would start color-coding batches and product types.
Having a cooler full of lugs (or combos) that were all the same color could make finding that one lug you need a real challenge. -

Deepwoodsbutcher I was just up to Minneapolis a couple weeks ago, went to the Vikings museum, worth the visit if you are in the area.

Jonathon If we can get the o-line set in front of him I think he would be fine. Throws an awful nice ball and should have a good receiving core, barring injuries of course. I hope the QB you guys picked up can have a good comeback. ND Mike probably could tell you more about him, come from same area.

Deepwoodsbutcher That a great idea for keeping everything organized.

Was looking at ordering a few more lugs to replace some of another brand that have cracked already (2 years of light use). Been real happy with the Walton’s lugs over the others. Unfortunately, for my color system the purple color I use for pork is backordered right now. I got 2 blue ones the other day, and 2 red ones I ordered for my father in law. I’m going to order some green ones I use for game meat in my shop, but don’t know if it’s worth ordering the purple ones since they are on backorder. Anyone have experience ordering backordered items? Wondering how long it could take or if the item may end up just discontinued or something?

I can’t answer your question, but a call to customer service might be your quickest answer. -

Deepwoodsbutcher Don’t know how long it will take, but I think they try to hold all items until backorder is filled. I don’t think they will discontinue purple as I think it is Bret and Austins favorite color. (K-State)

bocephus thanks. I will probably go ahead with the order since I don’t need them right away anyway
