powdered smoke
-
i’m new here so let me tell you about my experence with "powdered smoke " i have always smoked my sausages and people love them, then i ran across something called powdered smoke on the internet and decided to try it
i had just mixed a batch of my smoked sausage and with the last few lbs i added the powdered smoke and sat the batch aside , then smoked the rest
after those were ready, i took some that i had added the powdered smoke to and cooked them , then cooked some that just came off the smoker so that looking at them you could “see” no difference . i put them on seperate plates and headed out the door to where 5 friends worked and asked them to try one on each plate and tell me if they could tell any difference between the two plates , …not one person could tell which one came off the smoker and which one i added powdered smoke to -

calvin In an old series we used to do we would smoke some and then add hickory smoke powder and even we usually had trouble telling the difference. Now, these were often odd things to smoke but still, that Smoke Powder is a great thing to use if you don’t have a smoke source!

calvin - I bought some from Walton’s and put the bag with my other seasonings kept in the top of my pantry. Opened the pantry the next day and it smelled like I was smoking something in the pantry. Very powerful. Now have it inside in of 4 different ziplock bags to contain the smell.

Boudin It’s some pretty potent stuff. A little bit goes a long ways. I learned from experience. Now a days; when I use it, I start with half of what I think I should use. I can always add a tad, but you can’t take it back. I store mine in a zip lock bag inside a canning jar.
