#12 grinder and 50lb mixer
-
i just got the walton # 12 grinder and am considering buying the 50 lb mixer
but i am concerned that the #12 is wooofully underpowerd to handle mixing that much meat, i’ a retired electrican so i’m very familiar with how a gear reduction on the mixer will multiply the power of the electric motor of the grinder but still… -

If Walton’s says it is compatible and will work, you can trust it will work. I know they thoroughly test things, and reject products and send them back to be re-engineered if they do not meet their exacting specifications and expectations. Also since the chart shows that the 50# mixer will work with their #8 grinder, I would have no concern about it working with a #12 grinder. Austin Jonathon

calvin it is surprisingly easy to mix by hand with it. I doubt the grinder is going to struggle with mixing.

calvin yeah. I can’t speak for everyone but a few minutes per arm at a time is no big deal to me.

calvin glad it helped

calvin The sale is going to last a few weeks longer at least, if you want I can do a video on it showing the #12 working with the 50 lb Mixer? Probably should have some footage of it running on all 3 of them anyway.

as it stands right now we are taking a brief pause in our sausage making to (1) restock our supply of boston butts ( 2) to upgrade our equipment
in the coming weeks we will be buying the 50 lb mixer and the one shot ( not sure which one we will buy 1st ) as well as improving the way we package the patties
we are both getting older ( me 66 her 60 ) so its was time to stop and make things easier as well as better -
calvin My opinion is if you are doing a lot of cured sausage like snack sticks, summer sausage or anything that is going to finish through a 1/8 plate go with the One Shot, if you make more fresh sausage like brats/italians then go with the 50 lb mixer. But even then, unless you make large batches I think mixing with hands for fresh sausage is simple enough, so maybe one shot either way? Obviously it is up to you, just my thoughts!

what we have to do over the fall is a total of 240 lbs for smoked link sausage + somewhere between 40-60 lbs of polish links and about 40-60 lbs of patties ( in 1 lb bags )
that should keep everyone happy for a while + what we make for ourselves,…all our batches run about 50 lbs more or less , any idea when the one shot will be available ? -
Jonathon this is a good idea. I would like to see the grinder/ mixer combo more too. I’ll need a new grinder some day
