Mcjagger It will be a month or so but we have a video coming out on this. Still being worked on though.
Looking for top notch commercial food sealer. Looking at both L*M and Weston Pro. Any opinions out there?
For a snorkel type vacuum pack, the Weston pro 2300 is very good. I have owned one for many years and have only had to replace the heat strip once. I got some liquid in the pump and was able to get apart and clean out and it still works. However I have purchased a JVR 100 chamber sealer with a oil pump. Opens up what I can vac seal and pulls a much stronger seal that a snorkel type and you can do liquids. You are limited to the size of things, as it has to fit in the chamber. So the Weston pro is my back up for big things
Chamber vacuum sealers will do you much better if you are looking for a more commercial sealer. Bags are 1/4 the price, better seals and longer lasting in my opinion. They will outlast most every regular vacuum sealer. I went through three Foodsavers, not the cheap ones before I bought my chamber machine.

The Weston pro vacuum sealers are good. We have used them for years for butchering and you can repair them. We would like to upgrade to a chamber vacuum sealer but we have not pulled the trigger on it yet.

I have a L*M MaxVac 1000 and is does a good job sealing. I did have to send my first sealer back as it defective and would not seal. I have had the 2nd machine for about 4 years now, and it has been good. The only down side with this machine is the seal bar is 14 inches and I have only been able to find 14 inch rolls from L*M and they are expensive. The Weston has a 15 inch seal bar and there are less expensive options for 15 inch rolls from different manufacturers. When I have to replace my sealer, I will go back with a 15 inch.
Weston Pro. We butcher 10 pigs a year and have had the same one for 10yrs with zero issues.

Yes sir. I’ll echo that.
I bought a new import chamber vac 2 years ago. It’s still going strong. Get one and you will enjoy it.
Thanks all for your input!! I think chamber is the way to go….now to convince the better half!!
johnsbrewhouse Would you compare the chambers to some of the better quality dual pump, internal fan, 16" regular commercial packers? I would have thought those would be much, much better than the other normal household option mentioned, for a fraction of the price, & similar results for liquids & cannisters using a few tricks.
calldoctoday After having three top of the line Food Savers and burning two of them up and then dealing with sealing problems with liquids pulled out of the bags. I think the extra cost of the chamber was the way to go, plus the bags are way cheaper and mine will seal up to quart jars inside the chamber. I believe the last Food Saver was almost $300 and my chamber was 1K and a commercial version. The availability of different styles and thickness of bags is another plus for me.
johnsbrewhouse Thanks, I really appreciate that.
dawg I have a weston 2300 will not seal on its own have to use manual seal button and dosent seem to seal as well. Any ideals what might be problem. Thanks

It’s been a couple years since I had one of ours apart, but if it’s running and running and doesn’t ever switch to seal, or isn’t vacuumed enough after manually pushing the seal button, look for a vacuum leak that is not allowing the sensor to trip or the vacuum sensor itself.
Make sure your foam pieces and heating elements are in good working order also.
wills.michaelf I went thru 2 vacuum sealers and bought a VacMaster VP215 about 5 years ago and there is zero buyers remorse. Bags are cheaper and the only maintenance is the oil change in the pump.
My first vac machine I maybe bought 15 years ago was the cheapest FoodSaver GameSaver. It worked but I had to wait on it to cool off when I was in deer mode.
I wanted a bigger machine that would work “Continuously” and the FoodSaver GameSaver 8000 fit the description and was available @ BPS, Kwel! Points earned and price match at a brick and mortar store, I brought it home with little out of pocket expense! 16" bar continuous use was the advertisement! That’s what I Want! MSR was @ $400.
Worked for 2 years, still in warranty and failed! Not made anymore, no repair locations. FS GS did not make a 16" bar machine, FS GS did not make a “Continuous” mode machine. WTH??? I got screwed by FS!
The other machine I was considering at the time was Vacmaster. I bought a Pro 380, 16" bar and nearly a continuous mode, I do have to wait approx 30 sec between sealing mode. I found that out the hard way. Sent it back and was repaired under warranty. During that week of repair, I ran across the same machine that I bought for parts from a widow. Brand spanking new presteen Vacmaster Pro 380!
So relax just a touch and a very good machine with a very good service center will last a Very long time! Vacmaster Pro360 is there machine now for a bag sealer.
I’m sure Waltons has a great bag style machine as well.
I purchase 8"x 50 ft or 11"x50 ft rolls of 3.5 mil delivered at $10/roll and change.
Ordered a new Vacmaster215 should be here today.
