I definitely recommend the imitation bacon flavoring. My younger brother wanted to try it so I made some with venison and added the imitation bacon flavor, turned out very good and now he wants more. I told him just as soon as he supplies the venison!

Denny O I have never used the taste booster, maybe someone else has an answer for that. I made it last year and just used the recommended amount for 10 lbs. Can’t remember the amount of Imitation Bacon Seasoning, but it was whatever the package showed for a 10 lb ratio. I had never made it before, so I know I just followed the directions.

bocephus Along with your deer, did you add pork? If so do you remember the %?
I find nothing in Waltons that states how to set the meat block. -

Denny O I did add pork, used trimmings. I believe I went 50/50. Trimmings were leaner than I would have liked so I went 50/50.

bocephus Thanks, I’ll grind and mix em up tomorrow. Think I’ll do 10 pounds straight and another 10 pounds with the flavor booster as a chaser. Just unsure at what % to add.

Ok, lost track on which half batch I added the bacon taste booster to, but I’d say in default, Add It!

Now, I’m not sure which I prefer, Cold after the cook or, lightly fried in the cast iron pan??
Originally I was looking to do 2 separate batches of 5 pounds each, butt, oh well.
Booster in the next batch for the win Alex, Please!

Denny O My brother likes to put a slice in a bloody mary. The way he makes them now, it is almost a meal.

Denny O I made some half venison half pork in November. Didn’t realize waltons carried the imitation seasoning in going to try that next fall. What I made turned out good.

wvotrfan What seasoning did you use?
I’d order the bacon taste booster to go along with the Imitation Bacon Seasoning too! -

wvotrfan That looks awesome. Bet it’ll make great BLTs or fried egg sandwiches.

Denny O I found a box of something on the shelf of a store and followed videos I found on YouTube. Realized later that waltons had the seasoning and instructions on how to do. Did it on a whim should have researched more. I was impressed how it turned out. I will be using the waltons next time. Not an exact replacement for bacon but close enough for me

I think I am going to make some BLTs with venison bacon tonight now! Sadly my January plans for a doe don’t look good right now. We shall see though. If I do get one i will be making decent amount of venison/imitation bacon
