mrobisr that’s what I do also. I use the brush as just a final step. Usually nothing on it at that point.
Interest in a cordless Vacuum machine?
-
Our product specialist and I brought in a sample unit of a cordless vacuum machine. We charged it last night and fully charged it. This jmorning we have begun testing, it has a nice thick seal bar, and the vacuum is within a % or two of the Fresh Seal (the black one with the handle) that we sell. I am testing how many cycles it can run on a single charge. The thought is that it might not be a bad thing for anyone who is going into the backcountry to do some hunts, allowing people to vacuum pack meat in the field, or if you are camping and you have food you want to reseal this would allow that. We think the price point would be similar to the Fresh Seal. It has a 12" bar so it can use 11" bag (dont think a 12" would work) and it states that it does 110-120 bags per charge…that is what I am currently testing cause I dont buy that! So, the good news is I am in the studio running those tests and will be answering posts here for the nest…100 cycles hopefully!
Anyway, let us know if this is something you think would be interesting!

That would good to have. Is it priced close to a comparable sealer or way over it
-
It “should” be either the same, or less expesnive than the Waltons Fresh Seal sealer. We are working with them on MOQs and that could slightly change things, but I dont think it would push it abiove the Fresh Seals price point.

It sounds useful. I normal do the bulk of my deer processing in the field but I do a better cleaning and trimming at the house before final packaging so I probably wouldn’t use it for that. I think it would be great for resealing food camping out of my vehicle and processing fish fillets. I occasionally find myself helping people process hanging deer in sheds with no power. Would be good for that also.

Jonathon I will be interested in your test results. Would be useful to take along on hunting and fishing trips.
-
@wvotrfan Thanks, yeah camping/hunting are the 2 main purposes I have thought of so far but there has to be more. bocephus I am at 52 seals so far and no signs of slowing down in the machine, so maybe it does do 100 +. The next step will be trying to recharge it off a battery brick to see if you can extend that in the field.
-
Jonathon I can’t imagine me using it more than 50 times on any one trip even if we have more than one deer to process if it can do 100 that’s way over what should be needed
-
Jonathon this may sound stupid but it must be worth sticking it in a fridge or freezer for a couple hours to see if that drains the battery or makes it not operational. Some of the battery operated equipment I use doesn’t hold up in the cold

My interest would be to vac seal bait on fishing trips. We usually catch fresh bait every couple days on a week long trip. But if we could vac seal them right on the boat, we could catch it all on the first day and it would last all week. The bad is that once you vac seal shad, you aint using it to vac seal anything edible.
-
@wvotrfan Thats not a stupid idea AT ALL, especially when you think of when and where it will probably be used the most. Good one! I am at 60 right now, but i dont feel like I can stop until I find how many it will do or it will nag at me.
Grimpuppy Yeah, it also has a pretty small chamber, so you’d want to be careful about sucking moisture up into it.
-
Grimpuppy if it’s reasonable might need one for bait and one for food
-
This is interesting to me as well
-
Jonathon will you be able to use it while it’s charging as if it’s a normal plug in?

HerbcoFood That would be a very good option.
-
bocephus But it would make me think you could only use how much power there is in the battery. I am not sure how all that nerdy stuff works.

HerbcoFood Most times if plugged in it would use AC while charging battery, like a laptop, then when unplugged switch to battery.

12 volt hook up would be a nice option too.
Oh and by the way, I can seal a 16" bad on a 12" machine. Just think about it, seal the opposite ends and then vac with the center in the middle. -
HerbcoFood Yes it does, some debate on how well it does it, it was the first thing we tried. But it can be used while it is charging. LOL I did eat shrimp at lunch! It doesn’t come with a regular plug, it has a USB C charging cord.
