Snack stick stuffing tube diameter?
-
Hey people! Can i use a 10 mm stuffing tube on a 21mm snack stick casing? I have a C*****s grinder with a plastic auger and a 10 mm stuffing tube. The other tubes are to big for my casing. l plan on using grinder to stuff my casings with Willeys snack stick seasoning.
TIA -

You can try… results likely to be poor though. Using a grinder to stuff gives poor results, even doing 32mm brats through a half inch tube. The fat gets all smeared and meat heated up, it mostly just gets jacked around in the auger with just a bit getting squeeged out through the tube.21mm casing on a 10mm tube works OK, it’s just a thun tube for success with a grinder.
Trying to get a grinder to force meat through 10mm tube… well, I seem to recall that was Dante’s 6th Circle of Hell.
In addition to being hard to do, the overworking, smearing, and heating of the farce in the auger, causes you to have fat separation and fat out when cooking, especially if your temperature in cooker exceeds 170f.
Trust me. I bought a 1HP #22 grinder, thought I would stuff with it… bought stuffer next day. Now I recommend a stuffer BEFORE a grinder, for those on a budget. The stuffer is more critical for quality results.

Kavon before I got a stuffer it was a struggle for me to stuff the bigger brat casings from my grinder. I did stuff some smaller casings with a jerky shooter before but that was a long process as they don’t hold much meat.

I just looked, and Walton’s has their 11 lb stuffer on sale, cheaper than their 7lb. Just $204. Great deal. This is the one I would buy, it lets you do 10 lb batch which is perfect at home and big enough to be worth the mess, but still manageable, and about what you get from 1 pork butt. I’ve put a lot of thought into starting stuffers, and this is what will work, and keep you from wishing for bigger next week. Walton’s can be trusted to stand behind their sales and equipment, I have seen Jonathon and Austin prove they are the best company for having their customer’s back, many many times now.I’ve read allll the stuffer reviews and ratings from all other common brands, and all equipment has issues sometimes. But Walton’s is by far the most responsive and best customer service I have seen, it removes most all of the risk in a purchase. Seriously, I’d say this to my mother
https://waltons.com/11-lb-sausage-stuffer/Grab it, you won’t regret it!!
P.s. and buy these foam eggs, they help push all the meat out of stuffer so it all goes into casings, really great.

Dave in AZ is correct. Stuffing with a grinder on a small tube will be bad. The 11 lb stuffer is on sale. If you try to stuff with the grinder… Good Luck! -
Put it in the freezer first - let it get cold - not frozen. This will keep the fat from melting out and gooing up the process.

I have used mine with the small plastic auger and it will work ok as long as you don’t use cheese in the mix. When I used mine with hi temp cheese added, it mushed the cheese to where you couldn’t see it. I now own a nice Walton’s 11lb stuffer that works great on snack sticks.

I agree with the Dave in AZ and the others.
I can think of few things that would be less frustrating for a beginning sausage maker than trying to stuff good quality sausage with a grinder. -

Kavon the very first thing I was told when I was thinking of making sausage was buy a stuffer you will only make one batch if you don’t because it says grinder and a stuffer says stuffer
-
Does this stuffer come with stuffing tubes? And what size would I need for a 21 mm casing?

It comes with 12mm, 16mm, 22mm and 38mm. You can buy other sizes, but I think that the 12mm should work with 21mm casings.

Kavon what are these eggs called ? Im in process of ordering stuffer wants to get all at one time cause of shipping charges. Does the stuffer come with a tube big enough for stuffing summer sausage?

Kavon I use the 38mm tube to stuff 2-1/2 inch summer sausage

The 11 lb stuffer comes with 4 stuffing tubes that will work with snack sticks up to summer sausage or meat bags.
