Jonathon The only way to get better is to keep at it. I have been pheasant hunting for 50 years and still get startled by a close flush but that is part of the excitement.
Oven baked wings this past weekend
-
Re: What did everyone cook today?
Made a batch of oven baked wings with a light coating of EVOO and baking powder to make crispy and my basic dry rub. Baked 80 minutes at 385* flipping every 20 minutes. Then dipped in franks wing sauce and garlic parm sauce. Came out very good. -

How long did you bake them? Internal temps?
-
Denny O I baked them for 80 minutes flipping every 20 minutes. I didn’t check internal temperature but it was crispy and fall off the bone.
-
Corn starch is another thing I have used to get a more crisper wing.

chippewa Looks great.
-
chippewa they look great. I haven’t done wings in awhile
-
chippewa those look good. I made almost the same thing on Sunday for the game. I used the convection mode on my oven and set temp to 400. I cooked them for 25 minutes, turned them and did another 20 minutes. Outside was crispy and internal temp was about 175.
-
chippewa Very nice & even nicer with your own sauces.
-
gus4416 I used 1Tb of baking powder ( not soda) and 1T EVOO for roughly 2 1/2# of wings.
some people say that baking soda gives a bad aftertaste. -
HerbcoFood yes I saw this when I was checking this method out. And the main ingredient in baking powder is cornstarch which I didn’t know.
I saw a video where a man did wings both ways side by side and the baking powder was slightly crisper than the cornstarch . So that is why I chose this way. -
kmiller966 next time I will try a higher temperature… it makes sense
-
chippewa thanks for the info
