New guy to snack stick and jerky goodness....need help with measurements
-
Hello all just recently got a dehydrator and jerky gun and tried to look through the site before asking these questions. I will be doing small batches to start likely 2lbs at a time.
So my first question is can any jerky seasoning be used for snack sticks?
Secondly…I did see the conversion for small batches with regard to amount of the seasoning to be used but I didn’t see the amount to be used for the Sure cure amounts. Maybe I just didn’t read it correctly. Could some please help me out as to how to read how much Sure cure to use for small batches?
Every time I see one flavor I want to get for snack sticks…there are like 5 more than get my interest!! Lol. Look forward to making snack sticks and jerky!! I appreciate the help!

TexasRob First off, Welcome! We’re sure you’ll find this Community fun and helpful. Don’t be afraid to ask questions and add your experiences, pictures, hint’s & hacks and procedures to these discussions. As to your question about how much cure to use, there’s an icon on the right end of the tool bar at the top that’s named “Conversions”. It has the 1lb. and 5lb. breakdown for almost all of the cures. Just do the simple math and you’ll be all set.

Welcome, once you get into it more I’d say learn to do everything in grams. works great

Welcome to the community! The sure cure comes in I believe a 1 ounce package for 25lbs of meat. When doing small batches, you definitely need a good scale to measure your seasonings -
TexasRob looks like everyone’s got you covered already, so I’ll just add another Welcome aboard!
