Jonathon Twice in the last week we have had coyotes yipping like crazy in our unfenced area right outside our side door. Don’t know if they had a rabbit or what but they made a lot of noise!

Coyote populations have exploded in our area the last few years. The thing about coyotes is their numbers seem to self-regulate pretty reliably. Their numbers will increase and then mange and distemper will start taking its toll and the numbers will decrease back down again. Nature has a way of keeping things in balance.

Jonathon if one were to go the air gun route, this is the one to get, from my extensive amount of research and trusted opinions.

Jonathon City Slickers shouldn’t own weapons!

Sorry. I disagree with you. I think most everyone should own 1 or 20. But they should have proper training, and have actually been taught some gun safety. And that training and gun safety should be there own responsibility to get. City slickers or county folk, use the proper tool for the job safely. -

Jonathon I have a 22 caliber pellet pistol that does a pretty good job on the squirrels with the right pellets, CO2 powered penetrates pretty well if you are close enough. I scare the c**p out of the coyotes too when you fire it off. The snare probably would not catch your dog because of his size, when you place them, they are more likely to get something lower to the ground looking for a free meal.

If you happen to have your gun and while walking your dog a vicious and quite possibly rabid coyote CHARGES at you, you would have to defend yourself. A coyote can run at 30 mph so that’s quite a distance. To me every coyote is charging!

samspade excellent Annalises.

bocephus You would be surprised as to how many roofs I have found bullets lodged into over the years. They dug into the shingles a pretty good little ways too, not full penetration mind you, but they did not just bounce off the surface either. Amazing.
