Meatgistics Bracket
-
The password is Meatgistics and the winner gets a Waltons.com Gift Card. I am going to buy $100 worth of the Stuffer Flushers and throw them at passer-byes from my front porch. I am terrible at this so there is a very small possibility of me winning this.

Does anyone know why 2 of the 16 seeds are play-in games and 2 are 11 seeds?

“Who plays in the men’s First Four?
When selecting the teams for the NCAA tournament, the NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Committee ranks every team from No. 1 through No. 68. In its current format, the First Four consists of eight teams — the four lowest-seeded automatic qualifiers, and the four lowest-seeded at-large teams. Each subset plays against itself (i.e., at-large teams face at-large teams, and automatic qualifiers face automatic qualifiers)”
It appears to be a compromise of expanding the field to 68 and not punishing the lowest automatic bids excessively while allowing two more of the lowest at large teams in.
Which gets it down to 64 teams -
glen so instead of punishing the lowest ranking they punsh a mid-ranking team that obviously played well enough to get in? That doesn’t seem right. Thanks for the info though!

Jonathon Yeah but it’s in keeping the tradition of rewarding automatic bids to all conference winners regardless of ranking
-
glen I assume this is what my wife feels like when I talk to her about NFL rule changes, I think I get the basis of what it means but I also don’t care enough to figure it out! I haven’t been a fan of college basketball since Tim Duncan graduated.

How many brackets can we make 1,2, 50? -

Jonathon Don’t even get me started on NCAA and how they place teams and who gets in. One thing that I think should be a rule is if you didn’t finish at least .500 in your conference you don’t get in unless you win your conference tournament which would give them the auto bid. I realize some conferences are better than others and it probably wouldn’t always be the best 68 but how are other conference suppose to improve without some good exposure.

1 is fine. I did a bracket and it asked if I wanted to do another. I filled out a second and it accepted that one too. Then asked if I wanted to fill out another, that’s when I figured I should ask. They were going to get pretty wild after that.
My second one had KState winning it All! -

Jonathon I think limit it to 1 bracket. That is fair to everyone and then we won’t have to do too much thinking either.
-
Jonathon I’m confused on seeds that you speak of, seeds go in the ground to make wonderful tasty veggies and fruits
-
twilliams I guess plant them and see if a Walton’s gift card grows?
-
Jonathon that would be fabulous

chippewa Years ago, I was in with a group and after the first weekend I was in the top 100 in the nation, it went down fast after the second weekend, but it was fun bragging about how well I did the first weekend.
