When compared to all the other primals from a hog, I think the belly is still the highest price per lb cut on the pig.
This is where all the work of butchering your own hog starts to pay some dividends. I think with our recent hog it penciled out to about .97 per pound for everything edible that went in the freezer.

3.49lb. At my local Costco. Fortunately we have 2 that are within 10 miles of each other.

John Belvedere Bagged loin and sirloin were $1.88 lb at Winco yesterday. I’m going to pick some of both up tomorrow to make Canadian bacon out of the loins and Pressed reconstructed hams out of the sirloins.
-
Deepwoodsbutcher $4.99 at hyvee
-
processhead yes, belly is the money cut on a hog. We buy while hogs, but the family is wanting more belly bacon.
-
Guess i got an average deal. My old boss got me 60#s at his cost ($3.59 this week). He can get them cheaper sometimes too he said.
-
Deepwoodsbutcher I haven’t checked a couple of other stores these r raw pork belly I think fairway is at 3.29 lb

I wish I knew more about the economics that affect commodity retail price variations like the belly prices we are comparing here.
I think about all the hogs that are raised and processed in the Midwest and then see retail store prices that are as high or higher than average prices elsewhere. Apparently transportation costs are not much of a factor if you can get cheap pork bellies in Washington? -

processhead We have an IBP pork and beef processing plant here in Washington, they do raise a lot of pork here as well. The prices vary with the sources here. Costco was selling prime brisket packers for $3.09 lb. on Monday when I was there. If I had the space in the freezer, I might have bought a couple. The 88/12 ground beef was going for $4.99, no rhyme or reason

Grimpuppy Looking good. You should be set for a while now. What wood are you using? Hickory? Maple?
-
Hickory. This is half of them. There is more in the fridge to do when these are done.
