    • RE: Snack sticks , masterbuilt smoker?

IndianaJohn I went to Menards and got steel rods. Then I seasoned them in smoker. I cut them so they slide right into the rack slots then I either use S hooks or I hand over the rods.

IndianaJohn Get a cold smoke attachment, Mailbox mod, or smoke tubes. They work amazing for those lower temp not producing smoke. That is a problem with many electrics.

    • RE: Trouble With Masterbuilt Electric

Dave R Look at Auber WiFi PID controller. It works awesome with Masterbuilt. It requires a modification to The masterbuilt mine was a single jumper wire to bypass the built in controller. For making summer sausage and snack sticks it is great because you can program the steps in. You can have up to 6 programmed steps set up. Those steps can be defined by time at a certain temperature, or temperature of meat or a combination of both. It’s $225 so worth it though especially for snack sticks that need a more precise temp. https://www.auberins.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=702

    • RE: Masterbuilt 40

For the Masterbuilt look at getting a Auber Wifi PID controller, it works awesome, very accurate and stable temps. Also look at getting a cold smoke attachement, much better smoke for hot smoking plus added benefit of being able to cold smoke. Electrics are notorious for having trouble producing smoke at lower temps. A alternative to cold smoke attachment would be to make a Mailbox mod for the smoker. It does the same thing.

    • RE: Masterbuilt Temp Control

I also have the Auber WiFi PID controller. It has an easy mod to use it. It is basically one jumper wire for mine. My Masterbuilt was also having the crazy temp swings and inaccurate temps. I contacted Masterbuilt and they finally sent me a new controller, but I decided to go with the PID controller instead. The great thing about the Auber WiFi PID controller is it doesn’t have to be used only for a single smoker or unit. It can control other things also. Well worth the investment.
