It would be nice to be able to change your display name and have it be different than your login ID. Like it does in Gleam, login is your email address but displays your Name .

I did 10lb’s of straight pork butt in 5lb batches using Holly Breakfast Sausage Seasoning. The Conversion chart recommends 3Tblspns + 1Tspn of Holly per 5 lbs or 1.6oz or 45.2 Grams total weight of spice. I do have an Escali scale. The recommended 3tblspn + 1tspn Holly spice weighed in at 34G WELL SHORT of the target of 45.2 Grams. Had to add 3 more Tspns to get to correct weight. Now that’s confounding to me and I don’t like being confounded. Changed batteries…Same issue. Batteries spec out at 23 grams and both weighed spot on so I went with the 45.2 gram weight (1.6oz) instead of measuring spoon specs. My lesson to self is: WEIGH your spices cuz using just measuring spoons could get you a bland tasting sausage. Holly Breakfast Seasoning is wunnerful. Used 21mm fresh Collagen casings as well.

It will help if people tag Austin, and myself in these tags but it will not be necessary. This is for when you guys have an idea on something you think might make Meatgistics better. Examples of things we have done recently are the Link Mentions (vertical line | Followed by the name of seasonings create a hyperlink to the waltons page) and the Random category (https://meatgistics.waltonsinc.com/random)
So, if you have something like that please list it out here in detail. We want to hear how you want the feature to work and what you think the benefit will be!

Maybe this is only me, but a lot of replies I make I include a picture. I can’t tell you how often I’ve read to bottom of thread then typed a reply in Quick Reply section and realized there is no button to add photo. So I copy my text and go hit the reply at the top. Any way to allow “extras” on the quick reply box such as insert photo, etc?

Jonathon Austin Hay guys, I love the videos, the podcasts, and the community on Meatgistics. I drive all day and have listened to almost all of your library. My problem is, yesterday I ordered the 20# electric stuffer using your fathers day coupon code, well after a day of thinking about it I decided that the 30# would be a better fit for me. $150.00 more what the heck take my money . So I called customer service today and was told if I cancel my order for the 20# I can not use the coupon code again for the 30#. I want to give you my money but you don’t want to take it, why? I have your 50# meat mixer and love it! One small problem with it but it doesn’t affect the way it works and have used it several times now with my little 5# hand crank stuffer, time for an upgrade lol.

So, we were playing around, sorry, we were working on Meatgistics today and PatrickB said, can we get a dark mode for this? It was very easy to do actually! So, in the upper right hand corner of the screen where your avatar is there is now a light bulb, that will toggle dark mode on and off

Patrick also cut a 30 second Meatgistics “commercial” and we put that down in the about Meatgistics section at the bottom of the page. Enjoy!

As per title. I get suggested topics at bottom of each page with similar content… probably sorted by similarity. But there are only 5 or 6, recommend sorting by date with newest at top. The date is in small font, so its easy to click some 2016 thread, while last week’s thread at bottom never gets clicked as you wander from one suggested necropost dead topic to another.
Just think it would make posts more relevant and result in more comments on newer posts that folks are still looking for answers on.

Walton’s has one of the best business web presences I’ve ever seen. And representatives in Jonathon and Austin who really are amazingly engaged and responsive. Even your customer service email follow up is impressive, with your review/coupon program.
I noticed 3 items you could tweak to even further improve.
I have gotten 3 emails requesting a review on 16mm collagen casings, which I keep taking the time to fill out and write a paragraph. I think one went thru, I got a coupon code for something. But I’m not sure what it was for, email just said Thanks for your review. So when I get a new email asking me to review 16mm casings, I keep doing it… then it gives me a screen saying “You already submitted a review on [date].” Soo… it is annoying to keep being asked to take time, do it, then get rejected. You probably need to look at your database requesting reviews for orders, and crosscheck if customer has already reviewed item, before sending review request. Your review request email has a picture link at bottom for Items You May Be Interested In. One is a Walton’s catalog… the link to that doesn’t work, takes you to 404. Your emails state $6 coupon if a picture is included… but there is no way to upload a picture with your submittal process. I’ve got a lot of great pics that would help sell your items if that function worked…Keep up the outstanding work, one of the best run internet businesses I’ve ever dealt with!!

From samspade
I mentioned in a topic about changing the name of “conversions” to conversions and charts. Where charts would contain non editable charts for users. An example would be the USDA lethality/temp chart. Someone could topic a chart for inclusion and worthy Jonathan or Austin could place it in conversions and charts. -
Can better photo handling be added the downsizes photos uploaded automatically? If I try to post original photos from phone I always run into errors.
Can it be made easier to see if you have upvoted (liked?) a post in the f***m? At least in chrome the icons look identical if you have clicked or not. SO often I go to upvote a post and the number goes down - making me realized I already had liked it.

Could there be a way to highlight the name of the person who originated a particular topic?
Most cases when someone posts a question, it is easy to get lost in all the other comments. A lot of times a user posts an issue, and then the community asks clarifying questions (which is great, don’t want to hinder that), but there should be a way to clearly identify the owner of the topic throughout the thread. so the rest of the community can make sure all of the concerns from that individual are addressed.
